The guidelines of the 退伍军人 Access Choice Accountability Act 第七节02 requires VA to disapprove programs under the Post – 9/11 和 Montgomery GI Bill® programs at public institutions of higher learning if the schools charge qualifying 退伍军人, spouses, 和 dependents tuition 和 fees in excess of the rate for resident students for terms that begin after July 1, 2015. As such, any schools that do not meet the requirements will be disapproved for Post- 9/11 GI Bill® 和 Montgomery GI Bill® benefits.

You may be eligible for in-state tuition if you meet all of these requirements:

          • You’re receiving benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, the Montgomery GI Bill® Active Duty (MGIB-AD), or Veteran Readiness 和 就业 (VR&E),
          • You’re a “covered individual” (the next 2 sections explain what this means for 退伍军人, 配偶和子女) 
          • When you start school, you live in the state where the school is located.

As a Veteran, you’re a “covered individual” if you’ve served on active duty for at least 90 days since September 10, 2001.

注意: 第七节02 of the 退伍军人 Choice Act covers you only after discharge, not while you’re still on active duty or while you’re a member of the Active Guard Reserve (AGR).

Eligibility requirements for spouses or children

As a spouse or child of a Veteran, you’re a “covered individual” if one of these is 正确的:

          • You’re using education benefits transferred from a Veteran, or
          • You’re using benefits under the Fry Scholarship 和 the Veteran had served a period of active-duty service of at least 90 days before their death.

注意: Starting August 1, 2022, if you’re using benefits through the Survivors’ 和 Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA) program, you’ll be eligible for in-state tuition rates.

The 十大彩票平台 Office of 招生 will inform 军事 students of their residency status after the submission of their 应用程序 和 upon acceptance 进入机构. Where applicable, 书记官长办公室 will notify all military student via email of the need to complete the military waiver 和 include 链接到 Out of State 学费 Waiver for 军事 和 军事- Connected Student 应用程序. Once the waiver is applied, 军事 students will be able to maintain their status as a covered individual as long as they are continuously enrolled at 该机构. Even if they take scheduled breaks between courses, semesters, or terms, but if the student leaves 该机构 和 then enrolls again, the student will not keep the status as a covered individual.

    • Waivers must be submitted to the Registrar for review to determine eligibility 和 批准. 军事 students who meet the requirements will have their out-of-state 学费放弃.
    • Students must submit their DD-214 to 该机构 to establish the right to the military waiver, so that time of separation from service can be established.
    • All additional required documentation for the waiver review is listed on the 应用程序.
    • Notification of 批准 or denial of waiver request will be sent via letter to the 学生的学校电子邮件地址.
    • Students who have approved waivers will have their student accounts adjusted to reflect 州内学费.
    • 军事 student questions concerning the waiver 应用程序 should be directed to 书记官长办公室.

Students that are granted a 军事 Waiver 和 are seeking to become a permanent Georgia resident should take steps to establish Georgia as their domicile by updating 他们所有的州外文件(例如.g.
